ABC STUDIOS | Times Square – New York City, New York
Blue Ribbon Refresh
If Times Square is the heart of the world, the ABC SuperSign tracks the pulse of us all. It’s a beacon that beckons with its iconic, interactive, and ever-distinctive curvature of digital ribbons. Hugging the corner of 44th and Broadway, this state-of-the-art marquee is a constantly changing signscape of news, images, and advertising viewed by 1.5 million visitors and New Yorkers every day.
An Icon of Interaction
Now interactive with viewers, the landmark marquee has held forth as a singular showcase of messaging since 1999, when its installation heralded the premiere of ABC News’s Good Morning America, where it reigns supreme even still as GMA’s signpost.
As one of the most advanced digital displays in the world, the ABC SuperSign lets viewers interact on the spot with on-screen content using text, Twitter, SMS, Flickr, customized apps, and more. It can schedule and play HD video and live feeds from two dozen sources, while encouraging one-on-one interplay from viewers. All in all, these pioneering features are an advertiser’s and a spectator’s dream.
Technology for Today
Concepted, engineered, and installed by D3, the ABC SuperSign has undergone two tech updates—all while retaining its original archetype design. With this most recent rendition, D3 installed the most innovative LED advances ever created, allowing the 4,630 square foot display to fascinate with unmatched clarity and enchantment.
No wonder so many famous brands prefer to feature their offerings on this one-of-a-kind colossal canvas, where millions of positive impressions every year are focused on their productions—along with Monday Night Football, and other ABC, Disney, and ESPN popular programs.
